Preparing for the biggest move of our life

I decided, after my excel forecast shows how close to the line I will be running this year, that I will save every penny and subject to either a transfer opportunity or finding a similarly paid role I will be aiming to move during the summer holidays!
It started out as I saw an identical job to that I do now, same pay, more of what I enjoy with rental house prices £400 per month cheaper. I did on the spur of the moment apply.
When I went through my spreadsheet however I'd be ultra reliant on my deposit coming back to me in weeks, but I dont know how fast my landlord will be. So I would rather have enough to comfortably cover me so that when the deposit comes back it is just put into savings. I politely withdrew my application, but it gave me the spur I need to put every penny away to facilitate a move next year. Im fed up of struggling!
2 years of the cheaper rent, I will comfortably have a deposit - and I wont be forced to consider shared ownership. I've seen identical houses for between £95k - £125k, my rented one is £300k - its just insane.
Im hoping a transfer comes up that would definitely make a move a lot easier, it will be hard to adjust to an area, new job and new schools so if at least one is not a huge change it will ease the pressure all round, but if push comes to shove I will take whatever I can get.MFW

Hi Bellevie. Hope you are ok? How did you get on with the club you were hoping to get DD into?

Hi Tink,
I managed to get dd into a brand new club that is opening at her leisure centre, shorter hours just til 3, but they'd rather have me there part of the day than none at all!

I have been in a funny old mood the past couple of weeks, maybe the build up to this supermoon!
Like a cauldron ready to explode, restless and irritated - with good reason!
Regularly its taken over an hour to do the 5 mile journey from work to dd's school because they have shut one lane of a major dual carriage way - to include a bicycle lane! Im not sure why it couldn't have been done over the summer when the roads are quieter, 13 weeks of hell we are just half way through...grrrr.
Its upped my fuel consumption on an already tight budget, I cant get to the cheapest fuel station because its in the middle of the roadworks and it is quicker to take the long route home despite its links to a major motorway.
Thank goodness for the mobile working policy, I've taken to leaving early, then making up the travel & last hour when I get home in the evening in an attempt to minimise the pressure and not keep DD from being the last one in the school building! I dont know how, but I have only been completely late, getting at school at 6.30 when the club finishes at 6 once. I had called them like 6 times enroute explaining exactly where I was so they were really understanding. That day though, I was ready to resign and move to the middle of no where over night!
That made me feel quite down for some time, I cant move now this instant, because I ploughed so much money into that old car. And now I cant save as fast because Im paying off for the new one. If I had made the jump sooner, I might still have had some half decent savings left.
A part time job came up within my company, in a cheaper area but I just couldn't do the pay cut.
I woke in a much better mood today, and the journey home was a tiny bit quicker at 45 minutes, still longer than it should be, but an improvement!
Im also calmer about the move, there is no rush. Whilst I still have some money to save I will just tuck away what I can....any maybe tuck in a few cheeky prayers about finding a miraculously under priced house in this area, or come across enough money not to have to completely start over!MFW

Sorry to hear you had a bad week. Road works are a complete pain aren't they and that has just explained why my fuel hasn't been lasting as long. Why didn't I think of that duh lol. The good thing though is that you now have a reliable car for you and your DD.
Hope you have a better week.

@bellevie: totally understand you, my commute is over 1 hr and it depresses me. I constantly feel like I'm running to catch the tube or the train.

sorry for the radio silence, I have been on a few times I just havent been in the right frame of mind to update.
Traffic as of this week has got massively better, roadworks still going on, but on other side so I can get to the roundabout I need fairly easily.
I stupidly stupidly stupidly gave the colleague I had got close to another chance. Only 1 date, which didn't go ahead. It has knocked me back a lot more than it should have. I know he has some issues to be capable of doing this again and again, and I also have issues for giving him another chance. So I am feeling quite sad at the minute, sad at myself. It will pass though, soon hopefully.MFW

I was off work today, DD caught the sickness bug that has been doing the rounds at her school, I did have flexi booked for this afternoon to do the remainder of my Christmas shopping which I now will be squeezing into my lunch breaks - I will be sticking to my prebooked lunch breaks instead of consistently working through!
Mr T has been booked back in for a much needed groom, I decided to approach an unknown groomer, recommended by a fellow dog walker, explained the issue with the cut neck at his last visit and she very kindly has allowed me to do 3 drop in sessions just so he could familiarise himself with her, and touch wood its gone well. We will find out on Wednesday if he actually lets her clip him. I have opted to wash him at home the night before, so he isn't stressed by the dryer. And for the first cut to use the clippers all over, even on his face as whilst he is so nervous it will just be safer. Hopefully he will get used to her and with time he will enjoy getting a luxury groom!
I will be going to my brothers for Christmas, so its an expensive one all the presents and fuel, but we hope to stay for a few days so it should be enjoyable for the littlies
I am all set for DD's birthday, just need a cake and to decide what to do on the day as it falls on a weekend, I was thinking funds permitting, her favourite restaurant, we have never done a meal for her birthday so she will feel very grown upMFW

Hello there Bellevie.
Don't berate yourself for giving him another chance. We are all vulnerable and this life is tough.
Obviously think about whether it's sensible to give him any more chances, but also let yourself off.
I've read briefly about your plans for moving being back on the table - fantastic! I was a strong advocate of that the first time round. I understand why you didn't move, we are creatures of habit. But say hello to adventure now! Wow wee! Xx* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here
