Thank you all
Its with the same employer, so my service with them continues, no probation period.
My current dept is too quiet so I would have been at risk in 12-18 months I'm sure of it. This felt like a safer move, for the medium to long term at least!
I got lots of nice messages at work today when it was announced which was lovely!
My manager said today that they may be trying to get approval to increase hours cover the 0.5 day - I honestly was fairly happy with having 0.5 day off each week. I'm not sure if I want it to be approved - of course extra money, but the current increase is already enough, and I was kind of looking forward to the bit of spare time each week! Still, if its offered I will take it gratefully. If it's not, I will smile gracefully!
DD's holiday childcare camp is being taken over by a new company - the company mean a lot more sport and a lot less play. The whole reason I took her away from the last place as she just found it so tiring - and not fun! I will give them a go in May half term anyway, see how DD likes it now that she is a year older. I hope she does like it as its so convenient being so close to work, especially in the long summer holidays.
I seem to have shifted the cold, a mere 2 weeks in! I have been left with a frustrating tickly cough, well its tickly and dry but about 1 in 15 coughs is actually productive so Im reluctant to take something to stop it altogether. I will have to bring in the lemon & honey syrup tomorrow though, I must have driven my colleagues mad!
One more day - Fridays generally are crazy, so it will fly by. A two day breather with zero plans before the school chaos restarts on Monday!MFW

Well done on the job Bellevie. Great to have ideas of something to aim for.
Still addicted to Right Move like me. I think it helps to keep us going.0 -
It definitely does keep me going, love love love that site.
I'm relieved its Friday, but no lay in tomorrow, we have to be at the garage for 8am
Hopefully it will solve the problem and I can have a peaceful couple of years before having to replace the car!MFW

Light clusters replaced at total cost of £159.48 - inc VAT. Hopefully that will solve the problem. I will be monitoring closely as usual!
I need to amend my savings figure unfortunately. Hopefully not for too long.
So I've been pondering a potential issue. I've been requested to go on one training course and one 2 day conference in relation to the new job. The 1 day course is 3 hours away, I've arranged a sleepover for DD with a kind school friend and I should be there to collect her around 6pm the following day - subject to traffic of course!
The 2 day conference is 6 hours away, meaning DD would need 3 sleeps somewhere. I have 1 back up for overnight care, but this friend is away the time of the conference. With his help DD usually stays in her own bed and follows the same routine as if I were at home.
My last resort option is to take dd to my brothers, stay with her the first night, leave at 5am, have one night away. Return the following night around 8pm and continue journey home. It's doable - but I will only do it if the conference is compulsory as it means pulling dd out of school. I'd also need time off before the course to get my dog into kennels and DD to her uncles, likewise coming back. It would be intense to collect her at 8pm and then do another 3 hours journey home, so I would have to take the next day off, as she wouldn't be fit for school - if we did do the journey that night.
It's a huge disruption so I really really hope its either rescheduled - 10 days earlier would fall in half term - which means no disruption to DD's school, or they let me off altogether.
Dates havent been confirmed at this stage - just pencilled in. I really don't want to start the new job appearing difficult - the manager does know me and interviewed me at my very first interview for the company. I remember stressing that outside of 8-6 I rely on the kindness of friends so I couldn't guarantee I could attend long distance courses. At the time she was nicer about that than the other manager in the interview, so I'm hoping she understands my predicament.
I have emailed the hotel they use to find out if they offer a childcare / babysitting service - I know its fairly common for evenings but I presume it will be a slim chance for office hours! If they did, and DD was happy to it could solve part of the issue, ie the conference is usually in the same hotel so I would be in the building, I would politely decline team meals and eat breakfast, lunch & dinner with DD. I can imagine she would be bored very quickly, and would probably prefer being with her cousins even if I would prefer to keep her closer to me!
Or there might be some kind of miraculous turn around and they get everyone to come down south for like the first time ever!!
Oh well, I can only hope for the best outcome, I'll explain my options and hope she understands!MFW

Feeling a little calmer about speaking to my manager now.
We have had a calm weekend, walks with Mr T, catching up on housework, wrapping up homework ready for back to school next week!
Spent £5.18 in Tesco express. I didn't need a full shop so thought I'd prevent temptation by sticking to a small store where my options we limited!
We treated the car to a wash - first in about a year- at home of course so it was free and kept DD busy for around an hour :T
I've updated my spreadsheets with temporary figures for May / June - though hopefully my contract will arrive soon and I can make sure it's accurate.
So, on a different front.....I appear to have developed a little crush. For the first time well since before DD was born really. It's only a little one. I always thought this person was nice but I was kind of pushed into speaking to him more last week and could feel myself feeling all silly! Other than his name, and the department he works in I really know nothing else, so its not a big thing. It did however make me realise, maybe the ice in my heart is thawing after all these years :heartsmilMFW
