A friend's son did it himself. Watched a how to on youtube and bought the screen cheap on ebay.

My sister used https://www.quickmobilefix.com when she cracked her mini ipad screen. The first time round there was an issue with the button but they asked her to send it back and fixed it again at no cost which she was happy with. Quick service too. Can't remember what she paid but it was a lot less than Apple.
