I also only bake with butter as I can taste the difference, people often praise and request my sponges and flapjack, the delicious flavour is all down to using butter as a pose to a amazing skill of mine. If money was so tight I couldn't afford butter to bake with, I would stop baking, thankfully our finances are not that bad.

Hmm I must confess I can only tell the difference with some things. Flapjacks, crumble and shortbread absolutely NEED butter, but things like scones, sponge cakes and pastry taste fine (to me) with margarine. Butter cream, on the odd occasion I make it, obviously needs butter. I made tea cakes today, which need no fat at all :)

Ally - thanks for the organiser tips!
With my hair I followed the traditional 'no poo' route, so first you go cold turkey, then gradually introduce a mix of bicarb and cider vinegar. Up to a point it worked. I also used raw egg as conditioner. But I just never felt truly clean and my hair was greasy a day after washing. I felt really sad I couldn't make it work as I follow the amazing Lulastic on twitter and her hair looks so good. But in the end I quit as it's quite depressing feeling like you can never wear your hair down.

Foxgloves- lol love that name for him :) our gardening day was also cut short due to the torrential rain.

Yorkshire - what a worry about your money being short. Hope it gets sorted out soon.

BB - your day sounds very busy indeed! Does the power washer blast out the weeds or am I reading the wrong? If so, sounds interesting.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Good Evening Everyone,

Its been a couple of weeks since I've posted. Very Busy!

Arrived home from Malta on Tuesday. It was the best holiday I've ever had. I think having a local to show you the quieter beaches, best places to eat, zoom you around three places a day plus home cooked traditional Maltese food made the holiday. Already getting the holidays blues :) Had plenty of euro's and never had to say no to the children or count the pennies. infact my wages I didn't have chance to change before I went, I changed some just to go on a little shopping spread. Planning my next trip, Feburary is looking good as holidays are lower then compared to other schools breaks. Time to get saving again (after a very spendy week this week)

Oh still got my tip jar running (never needed it) there was around £120 in there plus a extra £40 off bonus ball win whilst away

Littles one birthday tea party this evening, brought too much food. but a few people didn't come due to family troubles, would of been nice o be told in the morning and I wouldn't of made so much. So were eating party food for a few days.

Sold children's old wardrobe on Facebook selling pages, just waiting on collection. Only £10, but the ex didn't do a very good job of putting it up :-D Set myself a target of £50 to fund a radiator cover for hallway. Also got rid of some large unwanted items from garden.

Picked up ys rosemary plants for 10p, so there out in the herb garden now

Need to finish up tidying from the party (not too bad), list some more things on facebook, pjs on, cup of tea and start looking at Budgets and plans for the future. Oh and count my penny jar and see if I can get a little item off my to house 'to buy' list

Still £130 left to pay off cc, got the cash but just holding off to next week just incase I miscalculated anything for the month (holiday brain) but nearly there :-D

Interesting discussion about butter for baking. Does expensive butter make a difference or can it be cheap stuff?

Thanks Bob. I feel a bit of a fraud because actually I have just over £2k in the bank but its all accounted for and I just dont want to dip into it. And I really really wanted to pay an extra £100 off the credit card but may have to drop this to £75 to cover things. Just hope nothing else crops up, its not been a good month financially.

    Your hol sounds lovely JoJo.

Horrible thought - DS hasnt had his school shoes on for 5 weeks and they are still in perfectly good condition so I am praying they still fit. I may leave that to one side for another week!

Your not a fraud. It is annoying when you have unexpected costs to shell out for. Doesn't matter how much you have in the bank never nice to have your plans scuppered.
