Please help, can you request a change in OR?

Hi guys,

As you'll have seen from my previous thread, our OR is quite abrupt.

Anyway, she called me today and was so off standish with me and abrupt that I got in such a state during her call that I got pins and needles in my throat and tonigue and actually ended up at the Dr's within the hour. I have been given Diazepam. I have depression and anxiety and a form from the Dr which confirms this - which I have posted to her along with all the other things they ask for. She confirmed today she was in receipt.

I suffer a lot with my physical health and my mental health and I feel she is making me much worse. Other people I have spoken to on her office haven't been so short.

Can we ask for a different OR before our interview on Monday?

Tia x

You can write/email to the Assistant Official Receiver and ask if your case worker can be changed with your reasons but it may be a bit late for Monday. There is no harm in trying though. We have had a couple of people say that the interview went better than they expected and the case worker was better than their initial contact.

I hope you can get it changed. No harm asking especially if you state your medical reasons. If the OR office want your doctor's note, keep a photocopy for yourself.

I'm pleased you've been to the doctor promptly, you must look after your health.

    Good luck

  • Good luck with getting it changed. Its so hard to go through and can be very upsetting just having to explain everything. I found mine incredibly difficult to due the reasons behind it all in the first place.
Just take your time (several times i had to say excuse me a min & took a mins breather...stayed on the line but got myself together..then continuedcontinued so they couldnt complain). Its got to be done im afraid.
Much love to you. And remember youve come this far, so you're stronger than you think xx

Thank you, yesterday was the second time I have spoken to her but she wasn't any softer, despite having received my Dr's form. Both my husband and I are going through BR so he is going to speak to her on Monday now instead of me. I understand she will probably still need to speak to me at some point but if my husband can do most of the talking hopefully that will help. And if it gets too much, I'll just have to say. It probably is a bit late now to change for Monday isn't it? But, just incase, how do I find out who the Assistant OR is?

Although you may get another OR the replacement will still go through all the same questions and probe why you got into such unmanageable debt. Maybe give this one another chance on Monday before trying to change things. At least this one knows your case. You would have to explain all the basic details to the new OR I should imagine.

Thanks all. I've been onto National Debtline this afternoon for an hour to get our SoA really really sorted. not quite sure how they worked out we'd have an IPA of £243.00 though, as we only have £37.92 left. Although, we have £126.00 a month in for the Council Tax, which I know we don't have to pay again now until April next year so I fully expect them to take that into account for an IPA?
