No, do not ignore it, or you may find you are the victim of an erroneous transfer. Contact nPower.

But don't, under any circumstances, let them harvest any personal information; full name, DoB, previous address, telephone number and the like.

I've contacted my actual energy provider, who I've being with continuously since 2011. I'm sure they're as intrigued as me to know why nPower think they can steal the service retrospectively.

Got this opened as a case with nPower complaints as neither they nor my actual provider could explain what might have happened two years ago. Account closed with no charges as an unexplained "erroneous transfer".

I have a suspicion that this is nothing to do with Npower and is a snail mail version of the usual bank, prize, Amazon order, Paypal transaction emails which want to scam your personal details from you.

Do contact Npower, just to check and perhaps they can make vulnerable customers about such risks.

Just a thought: You did make sure that your suppliers at the other premises took over your account at the new flat when you moved in ? Otherwise you are deemed to be with the supplier whom the last resident used, until you change details.
