Random question about a booked valuation - can somebody else be there for us?

Hi all,
We have our valuation booked by Halifax for Monday and we cannot get the day off work. My mother in law has offered to be there - would this be OK? Would it go against us in anyway?
Apologies for what might be a stupid question but we are FTB's and unsure of the process for valuations! Thanks everyone

When I purchased my flat I wasn't there for the valuation, and didn't have anyone there representing me.
Either the man I was buying it off let them in, or the Estate Agent0 -
Only the surveyor is present for a valuation + somebody to let them in (e.g. the current house owner).
It is not normal/usual for the buyer to be there at all. In fact, it'd be quite awkward.
The surveyor does not speak about their valuation. They go in, they do it. They pass no comments, no opinions. They leave.0 -
Great, thanks so much for quick responses both.
I probably should have explained our situation a little better, we are buying this house from my fiance's parents and and have already rented it from them for 5 years. So because it is not on the market as such, there is no estate agent etc involved to be there. I just didn't know if she introduced herself and they knew she was my fiance's mother, they would think she still had an interest in the property which I know is a big no no when it comes to family purchases. Just don't want anything to go against us at all0 -
As long as someone let's them in it won't matter who they are.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
