21- £16k in debt and dont know what to do! HELP!!

I made the same mistake as you in my early uni years! As did loads of my colleagues - so dont beat yourself up about it. Your one step ahead of most other people who will bury their heads in the sand for a while yet!
I think credit cards should come with those warning messages that cigerette packets have!
- anyway take full advantage of your student loan and overdraft - and push your bank to help you.. thats what they're their for and they may as well earn their money!
- also look at old style, try and cut back on spending although I know how incredibly stressful a medical degree is as have a good friend studying for one!
nb. I managed to live on £5 a week in my final year - so it can be done!
Be as honest as you can with your parents - that way if you do eventually decide you are going to have to ask them for help with money, they wont keel over when you tell them the situ, they may have useful ideas to help you, and at the very least if they cant offer you financial help or you wont except it - they are very good at sending food packages!! (personal experience!)
