Full mortgage application with bad credit

My partner at I have an AIP with Precise, due to my poor credit history. We have found a property we like based on this and made an offer, which has been accepted.

My question is- at what point should we move forward with the solicitor? I am aware there is a chance we might not be approved for a mortgage when we do the full application, and I'm wary of paying out solicitor fees incase we lose them. I know that Precise take longer than high street lenders to look at your case, so can we hold off on the solicitors?

Our vendor hasn't found a place yet so we're not actually moving forward with anything yet until there is a confirmed chain, but when the time comes what should we do first?

Precise only allow you to use their limited panel solicitors - they will not spend any money with solicitor (yours or theirs) until they are happy with the detailed application.

  • Thank you for that, that's good I suppose!

I have heard Precise take a while as they go through everything with a fine tooth comb, but as our vendor is yet to find anywhere yet we're not in a rush at least. Thank you for your advice.
