I'm not after medical advice, just wondering if anyone has taken this forca bad tooth and had, or not had bad side effects? I've searched online and it seems everyone has had bad reactions to it, but is that just that only the bad ones have bother to write about it.
I've been given it and amoxicilin for an infected gum by an emergency dentist, but i'm wondering whether to just take the amoxicillin as thats all i've ever had before.

I'd suggest taking whatever was prescribed - antibiotics may affect different infections differently, and if you've been given both then your dentist obviously thinks that'll be beneficial for you.0

I've only used it in cream form and that was for rosacea.
I tried flucloxacilllin orally, but found that it gave me thrush after a few days. Antibiotics always do that to mewhich is why I never take them unless it's absolutely unavoidable.

Metronidazole attacks completely different bacteria to amoxicillin.
Antibiotic resistance is quoted as being an Armageddon about to hit our society. Within a few years we are at risk of people dying from scratches becoming infected because antibiotics are becoming useless.
Some of this resistance is because people do not take antibiotics properly and stockpile antibiotics taking them where and when and for how long they think necessary.
Your professional has diagnosed and prescribed for you an appropriate antibiotic. Why would you over ride that and not take it taking a different antibiotic not prescribed for that problem ? Do you know if you are likely to have a gram positive or negative infection, do you know if it is likely to aerobic or anaerobic bacteria?
Take a professionals advice and the correct antibiotic.0 -
I have two boxes of antibiotics sitting in my cupboard. The first was prescribed by the hospital, despite me saying that antibiotics don't agree with me. (The registrar said I could just stop taking them if I don't get on with them) The second came from my doctors who mis-read the hospital letter and gave me a different antibiotic (which I've never taken).
The only time I EVER take ABs is when I am in extreme discomfort from a water infection. If I were able to rely on NHS111 to supply me promptly with my usual antibiotic I would throw the 2 boxes away in an instant. However, we all know that 111 is about as reliable as finding longitude using powder of sympathy, so I have no choice but to keep them in case it happens of a weekend when I can't get to my doctors.
Don't blame the patient, blame the system which neglects to provide the necessary help in a timely manner. The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -

Secondly there are out of hours GP services and multiple other routes to access medicines should you need them out of hours.
Thirdly if you're ill, and self-diagnose yourself as needing antibiotics, and take antibiotics you already have, rather than seeing a health professional who may tell you that you either don't need antibiotics, or you need different ones, or you need something else entirely, you're asking for trouble and are part of the problem.0 -

Firstly those antibiotics may now be out of date.

I have to agree. It's very irresponsible to self-medicate in this way.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
