Remortgage and change current account

Hi all

We're currently in the process of extending our property and are looking to remortgage. We currently have an offset mortgage which all income gets paid into, but are looking to get a fixed rate deal. If we do this we'll also need to set up a new current account, and i'm assuming we'll also only be able to get the house valued as part of remortgaging once extension is complete (in order to get a preferential rate with LTV).

Should i set up new current account or remortgage first?

Thanks

Is it a requirement to hold a current account with the lender you intend remortgaging too?

The property should be finished otherwise the valuation will be lower than you expect.
  • Thanks for response. Just spoke to Mortgage lender who suggest remortgage first and keep existing offset account as a current account until everything sorted.
