So another day... I was reading Getmore4less on Mr Bloater's diary and he/she said people are interested in what happens once you've made all the big savings and life is simply jogging along. Now this is my problem! I get bored and end up spending or doing something silly in one way or t'other.
But for now all is jogging along. Nothing spent today. Home late due to issues with the trains but did not give in to the siren call of the takeaway and instead cooked dinner at home. True it mostly involved the microwave but a step on from takeaway. So a minor victory, but a victory nonetheless.
Just found a playlist dedicated to Radiohead on a freeview channel - and have remembered just how great their music is!

Hello all,
I am trying to get into the habit of posting regularly in the vain hope that it will influence me positively.
So today has been a good day, had my review and positive things were said including that my probation period and pay rise will be signed off with immediate effect :T. Call me sad or very optimistic but I had already assumed that this would happen at the end of six months (the full probation period) and therefore all the extra cash is already allocated.
So anyway right now I am on a high from that and in my giddy mood have had a takeaway with my brother and DH and prosecco tonight to celebrate - well if I can't be honest here where else can I be honest?
Only money saving news is that I did use a brand match voucher in S@insbos when I went in there for lunch today.

Thanks CathT
I have to say that things have not been very focussed here
DSD was here last night and out of tiredness (lame excuse) we went out for dinner. I was up bright and early this morning for a trip to Mr L which came in a £28 for groceries and £40 for fireworks
I then walked to the local high street to Mr S to get the remaining bits for £15.50. So a total of £44 ish for the week - however this doesn't include dinner - reason being that we have so much food to eat up in the freezer. I am going to concentrate on eating down the freezer for the next few weeks and then we can stock up again before Christmas. We actually have 5 chickens in the freezer so one of them is being roasted for dinner tonight and the leftovers will be turned into curry.
The treadmill is also all ready to go so will be on that tomorrow. We are thinking of starting with a 5k training program. In the interest of total disclosure I have also bought some new trainers for the treadmill but I did use buy them in the sale and use Quidco and a Quidco code to get a further 10% off...
Other than that not much to report - just the usual housework and my favourite task of trawling through my spreadsheets and playing with the numbers to find savings.

I can't figure out how to do multiple quotes but wanted to say thank you to MG and My Best Jumper for their welcome messages. MBJ it was your posts about not being sure what to throw money at first that made me resolve to at least give the MFW route a go for 2 years, with the intention of reassessing at that point. I do ponder the benefits of shoving the money all in a S&S ISA as opposed to paying down the mortgage however for now a two year push to get £50k off the mortgage is a good plan.
LIL - we are off to my Mum's for Bonfire Night - our is garden quite small so I imagine our neighbours would have a fit if we were to let them off here :rotfl: they were from Mr L so hopefully a bit bargainous. And yes, posting regularly and reading other's diaries is the key to keeping on track (well for me anyhow) it drags my mind back to the MFW mindset as opposed to my natural slightly spendy ways
DH just filled up the car with petrol - hopefully for the last time this month as his next turn to drive is the week after next. If it is the last fill up this will bring the petrol total to £95 this month - down from an average of about £180 so this is fabulous! :j
Have spent the day cooking a curry from the left over roast chicken from last night and a big chilli con carne. I am so glad it is finally the weather for one pot cooking as this is my favourite - less to go wrong!
Off to Mum's for a roast this evening which will be a lovely end to the weekend.
Have a great Sunday afternoon everyoneCurrent mortgage as at start of diary 14.08.15 - £245,990.00
