PWC failed to inform CSA of change

My liabilty ended in September but I wasn't informed until December following my querying when the case would end.
Presumably this was because the PWC failed to tell the CSA that the child was no longer in FTE and no longer qualified for child benefit as required to do.
As the CSA carried on collecting my DD for the period September to December are they now liable to refund the over payments and then try to get the money back from the PWC or, if the PWC fails to refund them, claim that the problem is not theirs and I need to seek reimbursement direct from the PWC via the small claims at County Court?

I'm surprised when you contacted them, they didn't inform you that you would be refunded, the refund is often quite quick.0

No, all I got was a letter stating liability had ended and no further payments needed to be made. They then collected another payment as I didn't cancel DD in time but they refunded that quickly.
Do they need to get money back from PWC before they refund it? I presume the last payment was never released to her whereas the others would have been.0 -

A bit more puzzled, if the liability ends then the payments are going to the CSA pot , don't waste your time worrying about whether the PWC has to pay it back, it is not that party that directly debited your account, and you already know in that sense you have slim to nil chance of getting it back that way.
What I do know is that my brother was paying for a while after liability had ceased and he only found out after his daughter said mum was moaning that the money had now stopped, he contacted csa and a cheque arrived for all payments after the september that year, perhaps he was lucky as he is not on the internet as such, so bizarre things won't occur to him.0 -
Cheers,
I don't know if ex had the money or not. I have written asking for it back. If they have passed it on to her then they can get it back or pay me from public funds as far as I am concerned.0 -

Why not, it's a public body that had taken the money.0 -

Why? they shouldn't have taken it so should refund it as soon as requested. Whether they can recover it from the PWC is their problem.0 -
Well latest news is they have fully checked everything and I am getting sent a letter confirming that the case is closed with no arrears, the letter I have looked forward to for some years!
It is confirmed that I have overpaid and I am being refunded in full straight away from public funds.
They will contact the former PWC in order to recover the money that was overpaid but I will hear no more of it.
My CSA journey is over.0 -
At last! That must be a relief!
We have a few years to go yet, but are also looking forward to the time when we can choose to support hubby's children directly on our own terms rather than via the PWC.0
