Most people on here have made a,sensible contribution. Chuck, reflect, what have/could you contribute to a better life for others. You'd benefit too. Probably x

I did post on the thread that I used to (and will again in the future) volunteer for dog rescue centres:
I used to do home checks for dog rescue centres, but I don't have the time now, I may start doing them again after my retirement next year. I am also the competition secretary for our bowls club and captain two chess teams for our chess club, but that is different as I am getting something out of those clubs.

The 'gin post' was obviously a joke aimed at LM (who I was quoting and responding to) and who is also well known on this forum for his liking of a G&T.

If you don't like it, tough, do you really think that I care what you (just another troll on the internet) thinks?

I've been a Guide leader for about 20 years now, and a school governor for about 6 years.
I enjoy my voluntary work so much more than my paid work. My payment for Guides is in smiles. Watching the girls realise they can do something they never thought they could, and the enjoyment they get from the activities we have planned.

Sounds very rewarding. As well as probably going back to doing homechecks for various dog rescue centres, after I retire next year. There is a charity wildlife place near me, that nurses injured wildlife back to health. In the past I have taken a young hedgehog and an injured pigeon there, I may very well start doing a weekly afternoon shift there.
