is a new job a problem to get a mortgage?

From what I've read, it depends on your job title and whether or not you're a graduate, as well as whether there is a probationary period or not. I've been granted a mortgage before I even start my new job but I had a letter from the employer stating it was a full time permanent position with no probationary period.
(Lender is Natwest).0 -

I don't know, I was surprised when my broker told me this too, but apparently some lenders view graduates differently. I think it probably depends what your degree is in as I'm assuming it relates to employability?0

We are in a similar position. We have a first time buyer mortgage offer approved with Halifax. We are about to exchange on a new build that has a completion date of May 2016. My partner who is on the application is looking at a job offer that pays more but is in a completely different career. Would this cause a mortgage offer to be revoked?0

Please just post once or start your own thread. And if you want anything like a useful answer then mention the name of the lender.0 -
I was in a similar situation - potential new job suddenly in the pipeline, but offer already accepted on house and needing to get a mortgage sorted. HSBC (our original mortgage choice) said it may cause problems if I didn't have three months' worth of payslips from the new job, so we went with Halifax instead - our mortgage adviser there said that changing jobs then being in a probationary period shouldn't be an issue, and that they would just need a letter from the new employer confirming salary, etc if this couldn't be proved from payslips. Haven't had to test it yet as it looks as if the house/mortgage stuff may be completed before the job goes ahead - fingers crossed!0
