Don't think those comments were aimed at you, they were for the OP. It's against the forum rules to tout for business.jameskevill wrote: »I understand not everyone has a pension that's why i have joined the forum because people need IFA'S. You don't have one that was your choice you may know a lot about the pension industry or you just did not pay much attention to your pension when you was younger, a mistake most are making, Im not loaded, i wish.
P.S
ajbell you asking what my plan is ?0 -
I'm 31 and have a DC pension pot value of approx. 50K. I'm contributing 5% which my employee matches and adding 25% through AVCs. I feel like I should be a lot further ahead and hoping to increase my AVC to 30% next year.0

OP doesn't mention his/her age or the number of years pensionable service to date, which would help to put things in perspective.
My own situation is age 34, salary £25.5k + non pensionable o/t etc approx £3-4k. I have a DC pot from previous employment approx. £36k and just under 7 years in USS final salary section.
Retirement planning isn't all about pension. I am looking to pay off the mortgage by 50 which would allow me to go part time or save up more and retire earlier than whatever horrendous pension age is in force in future (68-70??).0 -
I guess this forum is populated by people who are more concerned than average about pensions.
The level of provision on the debt free wannabe or bankruptcy boards are probably far lower.0 -

No doubt true, if you don't have a pension and are not interested then you probably don't come on here which will skew the "average" an awful lot.
For the OP it sounds to me that you are doing OK although as said we don't know your age, years pensionable service, accrual rate, target / normal retirement date, dependants, savings, mortgage, other debt etc. etc. which all impact on your overall position.0 -
Thanks for your intellectual comment
Well how does someone on a final salary pension complain if not purely trolling? Unless you're like 60 and only just moved in to the final salary job from a previously DC jobMortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
