New mortgage and building/contents insurance

Hi all,

I had confirmationo on Monday from NatWest that my FTB mortgage has been approved and the offer should be sent out yesterday or today. I'm away visiting family until next week, so won't set eyes on it until Tue night.

Will there be some mention in the offer in regard to insurance or is it just expected that I get on and sort it?

If the latter, at what point should I be getting quotes and taking out a policy?

Thanks

You will need building insurance, however it's not needed until exchange. Your solicitor usually needs to see the policy at exchange, but you won't take it out until you know the exchange date - you don't want to start it when you are not liable for the house.
