Question re credit rating please

I have 2 defaults on my credit record
one is for O2 for he amount of £11 which defaulted in May 2011
I never received a bill for this or obviously I would have paid the £11
I used to get my bills online, but once I cancelled the O2 account they removed my access to email and I never got a final bill
The 2nd one is Lowell which again is an O2 bill but for £64 which defaulted in March 2012
Again I never got this bill or it would have been paid and I'm certain that it should be arouind £30 as this was what the monthly bill was and there was only one month left when I cancelled.
I have 2 questions
1 If I put a dispute on file for these two will it help or hinder
By my reckoning they will both be statute barred in 3 years
Do I leave things alone and let them get statute barred?
2 I owe Lowell nothing, I never had a contract with them, surely they should have sent me some kind of bill before putting a default on my credit record?
Is there anything I can do to get it removed?
Thanks

You do owe Lowell something, it is perfectly legal for creditors to sell on debts, and your debt becomes with whoever buys it."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

We would not advise you to leave these things for 3 more years – that is plenty of time for a creditor to consider legal action – if they so choose. You can file a dispute and ask for more details of the debt, however, you should be aware that the £64 debt has probably increased through interest/ charges/ late payment fees. If these have been added in accordance with the contract there is not much to dispute.1 If I put a dispute on file for these two will it help or hinder

Gaz83 is right, it will be in the terms and conditions of the original contract that the lender reserves the rights to use a third party to chase the money owed if you don’t maintain the contract (this includes closing the account in the right way).2 I owe Lowell nothing, I never had a contract with them, surely they should have sent me some kind of bill before putting a default on my credit record?

You cannot get accurate data removed from your file. If you want to put an end to this and start to rebuild your file then I would suggest you pay these in full (if you can) so the status changes from Default to Satisfied….this may not instantly improve your score but it will help you in the future (and prevent the creditors taking any more action).

To ruin your cedit file for two very minor debts, does not make any sense, I doubt you will hear much about these debts, but your ability to gain credit will be impacted.
Correct information cannot be removed from your credit file, minor debts are not always followed up very vigourusly, so it's up to you how you deal with it, if your credit file matters to you, pay them off.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
