Hello all, a fine example of Sods Law here, was wondering if anyone had any advice please?
My partner won a competition on Twitter (also his first ever win!), but as he didn't reply within 48 hours a re-draw took place and another winner picked. Messages below;
Message #1 21st July: Hi Gaz, you've won bla bla bla prize, please get back to us within 48 hours with your name and address.
Message #2 23rd July: Hi Gaz, please get back to us by 10am otherwise we'll have to re-draw the comp.
Message #3 23rd July: Hi Gaz, sorry times up, we've had to pick another winner.
Sods law because he collapsed on the 20th of July, and only got out of hospital yesterday! Couldn't have any phones around his machines either!
I for some reason have the thought in my head that winners have 28 days by law to reply? Or am I totally wrong?

it depends on if the prize was time sensitive and if the 48 hours was mentioned in terms before hand. I'd send them a message to explain the situation and see if they will be nice, worst they can do is say noYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

If they don't set a timescale 28 days is considered reasonable if there is no time pressure (event tickets etc), but as long as it's in the T&Cs they can practically set any deadline they like.
As already pointed out, nothing lost by asking.0 -
Thank you very much both of you for your replies!
My partner now has part of the prize on its way, a smartphone which is the only reason why he really entered the competition so he's over the moon!
Thank you again, it's much appreciated! x0 -
