Next step help pls

I've taken a few important steps - opened a new bank account etc (even tho my bank said I couldn't due to poor rating!). but still haven't got my head round what my financial situation is.

I have a big loan & overdraft with my old bank & they are needing to talk to me urgently today. I haven't done anything re telling them I've moved banks & need to figure out what I do about my debts with them.

Any ideas how I can deal with them to buy a bit of time to sort out what's what?

You say you haven't gotten your head around your finances yet, have you drawn up a statment of affairs (incomings vs outgoings) and a list of all your debts so you can clearly see whats going on?
