Hiya folks, to cut a long storey short, I have always been uselsss with money. I am now 58yrs old and I am sooooo tired of getting myself into these fixes.

My plan is to be debt free and go to Disneyland Florida for my 60th birthday.

I am not massivley in debt, dont know the total but I would imagine its a few 1,000. I have 3 6 monthly loans, that I struggle with and a payday loan, that I have to keep renewing. I will check amount and repost an accurate figure. The stupid thing is I do have enough money, I just waste a lot of it on stuff I dont need or use :mad::mad:. So my plan is the journal my progress and get this sorted once and for all. I know all the things I need to do, I just dont do it. Rather spend my money. How bloody stupid is that.

I aslso have a weight issue again not massivley, 50lbs I am sure the over spending and over eating are linked.

Looking forward to reading other diaries for hints and tips

:)

Todays plan, not to spend a penny. I have checked food stocks. And definatly do NOT need, snacks, sweet, odds and ends or rubbish items for the house. I update this evening

There will be lots of issues arising as I have £58 in the bank, well I did yesterday. And I have things to pay. My main wage is paid 4 weekly and my partime job is paid weekly......which is a bonus. I will get my payslip on Thursday for my partime job, so will know whats going in on Friday.

I will update more about myself as I go along

    Thank you for reading :)

  • got to go into town today, to pick something up that was ordered before my :money:thread.

I dont know whether to go with plan A or B
Plan A leave debit card at home and only use cash that is in my purse or
Plan B take the debit card and test myself. I am sure I can do it. I feel strong. I need to buy some fruit and carrots. I have everything else in. I have a budget of £5 for today. I have downloded a spending app on to my phone (free) and will get my catogories set and my budget amounts ready for next Friday ( 4 weekly payday)

Thursday the 20th I go away for a few day ( another thing, I should not have booked).

    Thank Y:)u for reading

    Plan A.

I'm trying to lose weight too. For every pound I lose, I put £1 in a sealed pot. For every pound I put on, I double it! The pot's getting quite heavy and it's motivational for a nice non-edible treat when I reach my target.

Can you live solely in your main job's salary and put your weekly salary straight to debt?
  • Thank You for reading and posting thegreeone x

Plan A it was. I took £5 and returned with £2.70. Bought nail glue as may nail has snapped. Now this is not a big issue if it was above my finger tip but its below where my nail grows and if i catch it it will pull agross my nail. Ive tried elastoplast etc to no avail and didnt have any super glue lol. I went for free parking and walked a little way in to town. Town centre parking is £1.40 and hour. Leaving debit card meant £20 stayed in the bank as that is what I would of drawn and I would have spent it too. So todays savings £21.40.

What a fab idea. I do save £2 coins (mam keeps it for me, so i dont go at it with tin opener). I think ill invest in another tin and do the same. Thank You for the idea.

Weekly salary to debt. Is the plan but I need to use it to get to next friday, due to my past rash spending and no budget. I got my pay slip today and £167 will be going into bank tomorrow, plus have £54 already in. Have to pay this weeks rent with is £90. Rent is £88 but pay the extra 2 to get ahead, currently £28 in credit. The only thing I am in credit with :)

Just put a cassorole on for tea. I had all I needed after looking. didnt need the carrots and I put off the fruit untill I get paid tomorrow :)

    Thank You for reading :)

I like your idea of being in credit with the rent. Very sensible. Next month, can you spare a tenner of your weekly pay to the council tax arrears? May be make regular small payments to get rid of that debt. If they can see you're paying, they're less likely to scale it up.

I know I say it often but as my DH is weekly paid we pay everything weekly. Just small amounts really do add up.
  • I pay my Council Tax by Direct Debit and paying above monthy amount due to 4months arrears. But a good Idea for next April. I could standing order ann amount to pay extra. DD wont do that.

    Thank You the green one

Weekly partime payday. Petrol in the car, as I will need that for partime job and other travel next week.
Not planning on spending today. Eating what we can out of the house, as going away next Thursday, so will buy as least as possible.

No nasties news in the post this week....yet.

  • Weekly wage in today and no withdrawls :j. That has got to be a 1st. DH was out and about and bought my fruit from money in his pocket :T explained did not want to go to bank for the sake of it. 3 days with no withdrawls from the bank :D:j:T

Todays tea....leftovers from yesterdays casserole. :T. Ill need to be strong tomorrow, as need to go to cashpoint for food for the rest of the week. Going to have a go at a menu to take us to Thursday when we go away. Dogs stay at dog sitter will be £60. I WILL have saved that by not withdrawing from bank on a daily basis and wasting it.

We have a total 4 weekly income of £1800, more than enought to live on, treats, holidays and savings. Just need to stop wasting it.

    Thankyou for reading :)

  • All going well. I have only spent what has been needed. I am going away for 4 days and have not bought any new clothes or toiletries or books. I have more than I need already at home.

I have been busy having a declutter too. Gave 2 bags to charity and listed some things on shpock. Not sold anything before, but even a couple of £s all and to the pot.

Letter yesterday to say concil tax gone to court. I do not need to attend, so all I can do is deal with it when it has been dealt with by the court. Shocking  to think I have wasted money and not paid council tax. But that is in the past. WILL NOT happen again
