Thanks for the tip on the Coventry, homer_j - I've had slightly conflicting advice from 2 different mortgage brokers (and sometimes information seems to take a bit of a long time to filter through down here in sunny Devon!). I've then had different advice AGAIN from the online calculators on the Northern Rock site! Bewildering as though I have a fair amount of debt (not masses but enough to make my choice of mortgage lenders pretty restricted) I haven't missed any payments and have a good credit score.Exiled-Geordie-in-the-west-country (not quite in the middle of nowhere, but I can definitely see it from here!)0

Sarah HJ,
I believe that Standard Life, Bristol and West and Abbey will do Professional Mortgages, but they will only go up to 5x income. Out of those, I would recommend Standard Life as they are lovely to deal with, flexible in their approach and will go up to 100%.
If you want more than x5 income, you'll probably have to go off the High Street (although come to think of it, Alliance & Leicester's affordability calculator is quite generous and might get you 6x).
Off high street could get you around 7x, but you would have to approach an intermediary for that.
