I can't force myself to open up twitter today, SHS, sorry! And you're *really* good at short-form postings, and I'm utter rubbish at it - but it might do well to publicise blog posts, mightnt it?

If you go onto youtube you'll be able to listen to all the grade 2 pieces. Would be interested to see which ones you like. :)

Unless teacher requires pupils to learn scales by sight (reading the notes), use the book as reference. If you're not a pianist, you can check fingering using the book (thumb - 1, index finger - 2 etc. etc.).

Do NOT let your daughter learn the sight reading examples. Just randomly give her one to do every now and then. Use as a test. They get one minute to look at the piece and then must play it.

I had an image of us being a family who played together. This was killed off by head of music at my work. I had always played
  • With the band at every school I have ever worked in. When I joined this one he just refused to let me (without hearing me play) and was so very rude it put me right off. One of the reasons why I would like to move jobs.
