E&S Equipment Sales & Surveying do indeed appear to supply shipping containers. They seem to be based in Florida.

In the UK you would have better luck with http://www.container-housing.co.uk/

It isn't really housing its more akin to an artifical cave and you'd probably have a better quality of life in jail

They look considerably more salubrious than some of the places I lived when at university. Still because of people's "rights" it would no doubt be unacceptable to house people who don't work in them.

In one my more sober moments I had a great Idea for opening a hotel on the south col of Everest - part hotel part refuge for climbers. My plan was to parachute in pre fitted shipping containers full of food, and medical supplies etc. They would be insulated and also wind and solar powered to both heat them and keep them pressurised to avoid the effects of altitude.

    Still working on the details

There is a great grand designs show with an Irish chap and three or four containers on the slope of a hill. He made a lovely home for himself. Two together make quite a nice space.

Might get a bit chilly though come winter.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

Someone who had skills in making such things, combined with imagination, could probably make quite decent small homes like those ones that were built for some people after the Second World War. They ended up being much loved by some. (I'm sure central heating and other amenities could even be installed in them.)

They probably wouldn't last very long – but then some of the stuff that's being thrown up all over London and sold as 'luxury apartments' mayhap won't, either.

They have been used as student housing in the Netherlands, which may be where the idea originates from. Google Netherlands container housing and there are loads of links.

One article says that Unis in Holland don't provide housing options to students, which may go some way to explain why it started.
