When we took out our first mortgage in 1993 we could hardly lay each month as mortgaged up to the eyeballs at 67k. 10 yrs later and we made our move to a detached house and a home where the kids could grow up and leave at some point and then we could downsize and retire....
I drew a picture of our house and made square up on it and each time we paid 1k I would colour it in. I did babysitting and odd jobs to make extra cash to go towards the mortgage payments and finally we have our own Detached house that is all paid for.
I always look for the best deals when buying things and use Quidco for a little but if cash back, buy from charity shops sometimes.
We have had super holidays, usually twice a year but have always looked for deals ie no more than £400 for the week and have always found great deals so we never felt we were losing out from going abroad.
This April we splashed out as it was my hubb's 50th and we had a fab family hokiday in Seville with £68 cashback from Quidco!
We've had our kitchen done but this was on interest free for a year on a card so never paid extra for it.
I feel blessed that we have finally done it and now we are making a list of things to buy...
New front door
New rear patio
New bedroom furniture and bed
Curtains for back living room
Feels good and I wish everyone success on doing the same. There are so many little jobs you can do to earn a little extra ie selling stuff that you ha e that you no longer need and just put it on your mortgage. Every little but really does help.0 -
