Whitening tile grout

I'm looking to clean up the bathroom tiles and hopefully whiten them a little but what is best to use, is it bicarbonate of soda? Any suggestions welcome it's not a job I'm looking forward to doing.

stilt walker suggested mixing bleach and bicarb to a paste and putting on grout with a tooth brush leave for a bit and rinse off....works like a dream but i agree a grim job
    onwards and upwards
  • when I had a tiled shower I used to use flash spray with bleach, all in one bottle I think you can still get it in the shops just spray it on the grout, scrub in a litle bit with an old nail or toothbrush leave for 5 mins and rinse off comes up like new every time. The flat I lived in at the time was really grimy when I moved in so it probably had never been cleaned before as it was green & black, but it was bright and fresh afterwards, what a difference

Heard that if you apply toothpaste its supposed to work, not tried it yet, so can't vouch for it.

  • After reading about bleach pens i decided to make my own
i got a condiments bottle (29p in homebargains) and filled it with a thick bleach
started at the top and outlined the tiles, it really didnt take long to do a whole wall despite them being those bricke shaped ones, not big square ones, music on and away i went
left it for an hour and rinsed it off, i used the shower head
buffed them up and they were gleaming again

I imagine it's the plastic squeezy ones meant for ketchup, mustard etc.
