Buying a home/maternity

Hi
Looking for some advice.
We own a house and are looking to buy and move to another, possibly keeping the 1st house and letting it.
My wife is currently on maternity leave. How does that work with getting a mortgage to buy a new home? Is it simple enough?
We want to stay with Halifax, who we have our current mortgage with.

It depends what her intentions are.
Will she be returning to work? If so, will it be on the same terms? Reduced hours?Slummy mummy!0
