will HR&C make you bankrupt if you have no house?

Hi-I have asked some questions before about an in debt family member and thanks for all the replies so far.
the situation has moved on, and we now know that he owes roughly £30000 to the revenue for the last 3 years, and has about £20000 in loans and credit cards.
he rents his house and leases the car.
the family income are still less than the outgoings.
the tax returns have now gone into the revenue- when they work out what he owes them, what is going to happen?
I cant see how they are ever going to be able to afford to pay the tax arrears- but will the revenue make them bankrupt just for the sake of it?
what other options are there?
thanks in advance

In MY experience, mrsS, YES.
See my post in the following thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=529055I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
