GE UK solar panel cost price offer

Hello everyone

Google & forum searches have not provided the information I need, so hopefully some of you will be able to advise me.

A solar panel farm is about to be constructed at the end of the lane where I live. As part of the planning process, the company involved - GE UK - agreed to offer cost price solar panel installation to nearby residents. It is not clear if the residents near other solar farms built by GE UK have been offered a similar deal or if this was negotiated by the local council for my area.

We have been considering having solar panels installed for a while, but our reticence has mainly stemmed from the long pay-back period. Clearly, if we can have the panels installed at cost, the pay-back time will be reduced.

I will of course follow the excellent advice on this site and obtain other quotations for solar panel installation once I know what GE UK are offering.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had relevant experience of GE UK. Thank you in advance.

They would do as well to buy local goodwill. The self appointed village committee where I live was successful in ensuring that the planning permission for a local solar farm was declined. Do you have a guidance price?

  • No other details at present as the letter containing the offer only arrived this morning. Will post further information when GE reply to my email.
The residents of our lane don't object to the solar farm per se. We did object to the whole lane being dug up for the cable - as there is some grassed land adjacent that could have been used instead. Council rejected our common sense suggestion :(
