OS Daily thread Saturday 8th August

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby & I Have a cuppa.
Tip run at 8 this morning & then hubby is helping a friend with some decorating, then I think it's a trip to the aquatic shop for some fish food.
I shall be back in the room of doom to carry on clearing it up.

Thanks for starting the thread off today HESTER.

Good Morning everyone, we have a cool and misty start here this morning, an early autumn day is what it feels like but we're due to get 23 degrees and sunshine later on. I'm popping into town for a few bits on the bus this morning, He Who Knows is lifting our maincrop potatoes for storage, it's lovely dry soil so they are coming out clean. The plots take a lot of managment with all the picking at this time of year and we're pretty tired by the end of the day, I fell asleep at 8.30 last night and didn't surface until 5 this morning, have a stiff back today from all the standing yesterday but worth it for the chutney on the shelf to be enjoyed later in the year. Nothing specific planned for the rest of the day but I KNOW it will involve picking things and filling the freezer, can only be good eh?

Morning all,


Had a lovely lay in this morning which was much needed, I have since put a huge was on I love the big drum in the new wm it fits a much bigger wash in,
will have to do OH work clothes later on but two loads should see it today.


Had a nice curry last night, and tonight will be burger in a bun with wedges I think.


DD due back later she spent the night at her friends I think they went clubbing so she will no doubt be hung over and wanting a nap :rotfl:


I need to look for a new Tumble for my mum and a small flat backed bin for her kitchen, so will get onto that now while its quiet.

Morning all,
Hope you all have a good weekend.Its lovely here today but this is meant to be the better day of the weekend.Ly1a has only had a short walk this morning as my tum is a bit dodgy,think I must have eaten something that disagreed.
DH has gone off for more wood to do the other fence so we'll have more privacy,there were only low stone walls before & as much as I like the neighbours I dont really want to sit & eat in full view.The stone walls are staying,he's fixing the fence on top.There is some trellis at the back on either side which is staying as one has a lovely honeysuckle and the other a clematis,both pretty thick and you cant really see through.Another stone wall at the back with a steep bank,then conifers which arent ours.The lady at the bungalow beyond is resistant to lowering the height of them,which is a shame ss they cut the sun off at teatime.I know her garden is probably about 8' higher than ours but they are level with our roof :eek:There is also some privet which has grown to about 20'.DH has trimmed some of that as it was overhanging,but she came out to check he wasnt taking off more than the overhang.It will have a nice cottagey feel when its finished and I get some more pots in.I planted some things in the wall but the slugs are very active :mad:
Had curry planned for tea but prob not a good idea for me,I'll have something bland.

Afternoon everyone.

Was out at the shops for 8.am, pharmacy at 9.00am and then visited a sick friend and took him a little sweet treat. Then had to go back out to the shops again as Mum wanted more stuff. Now I've settled down for the first time today.

The sun is shining brightly in Glasgow, I've got the bedroom window open.

Breakfast was in the cafe at W'rose. Main meal will be lasagne and there's a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge too.

I hope everyone is having a lovely time.
