Nationwide dip mortage amount and house change

We applied for a full mortage in branch of nationwide today all 3.5 hours, joy. Then my seller pulled out literally hours after the application.
Now we need to find another house & cancel the current application. But my question is can they use the same dip on a new house for a lower amount or do we have another 'hard' credit search & new dip etc. this house moving lark is so stressful!!

DIP is not specific to a property, and it doesn't matter if your DIP is for more than you eventually need.0
