"I have spoken to a team leader regarding your account as the meter fault is not technically your fault as you have inherited the faulty meter.

But but but but ..... don't we all inherit our meters? None of us choose them.

How can the meter fault ever be that of the householder when being fit for purpose includes being able to operate with on site generation. So it's not 'not technically' your fault, it's simply 'not' your fault.

I think you called their bluff, and they gave up.

    Great result.. LOL.

Regarding diverter, I only get 5p per kWh so if I had a smart meter, I would probably benefit from metered export. My diverter doesn't use much spare electricity yet we do get a tank full of hot water.

I emailed back to thank them for their kind offer of half price meter fitting, but that I was happy to leave it as it was.

    They have replied:
"I have spoken to a team leader regarding your account as the meter fault is not technically your fault as you have inherited the faulty meter.

In this instance we will waver the charge of a meter exchange."

    :money: :D

You'd be better switching supplier and delaying the process of losing the benefit of getting both the FiT and the effective benefit of a large battery!

I know someone who installed panels back in 2010, has a meter that goes backward and has been changing supplier ever since!
