Suggestions for healthier car sweets

I've caught myself eating lots of sweets on particularly long car journeys - partly boredom, partly an annoying OH who can eat anything, not gain an ounce and who loves sweeties while driving. I've HAD to change this habit - a few suggestions that worked for me:
1. Try to last longer between eating times - really try to notice when you're eating, and when your hand slips back into the packet for another one. Stop, and tell yourself you can have one more in another... say 5 miles or perhaps longer? Build up the 'no sweet times' as you go. I now only eat sweets in the car very occasionally - and still have to be disciplined if I start. Sometimes it's easier just to not have them with you (I don't ever have them with me in my own car - it's shared journeys in the OH's car that are an issue for me).
2. Give yourself other 'treats' - a new cd to listen to; a radio station/programme you like; perhaps download a podcast of something you particularly want to listen to.
3. You mention the dry mouth you suffer from as a side effect of medication - the dried fruit/seeds/nuts will exacerbate that in the long run, as, I imagine, will the sugarier sweets? I know, I know, this is going to sound really dull, but what about carrot sticks? Small, really tasty little tomatoes? Those, combined with having water handy to sip from in small amounts, and taking a longer break between the 'naughties' might, in the end, help you to cut them right back. It's sort of the equivalent of distracting your mouth with something else, just as the podcasts or 'saved up treat music' might help.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Strong chewing gum lasts me hours. Something like Airwaves or Aldi Active Air. Worth a try0

Not really a suggestion this as you want chewy etc.
I tried putting a container of freshly shelled peas in the car to snack on once as I thought it would be a healthy alternative to sweets.
But I had to brake hard and they went absolutely everywhere!
Even vacuuming my car every week I still found the odd dried pea months later!0
