Solar PV quote at £3900 for 3kwp, 10 panels

Hi

Received a quote today for solar panels on my southfacing roof with no shading at £3900. Is this reasonable?

Many thanks

Not a bad price for a 3kWp system, can I ask what materials they've quoted you?

Edit, 10 x 300Wp panels? Are you tight for room up there? Any other rooves you could use?

    Hi

As Tunnel says not a bad price. Just make sure fully what is included for that price!! Check everything before signing anything.

It is a good place to post any questions you have before signing cos there are many solar panel owners on here!!

But do you have room for more panels? I ask because we recently had an installer on the forums who admitted he advised his customers to buy 3kWp only, bit pointless if there's room on your roof for more.

I don't want to tar all installers with the same brush, but quite a few won't necessarily quote for the best system for your roof, but instead what they happen to have available at the time/most convenient/most profitable for them.

For example only quoting for a 3kW system when 4kW will fit, or not quoting for higher efficiency panels if you're short of roof space, or not quoting for putting panels on additional roof face.

Ok, 2 quotes and now you are up to 12 panels. Care to answer my question about space on your roof or other usable rooves?

Believe it or not, you may help yourself by taking notice of random strangers on an open forum who have no financial interest in the choice you make. I know full well if you only have room for 12 panels that a 3.96kWp system using benQ 330Wp panels is achievable for around £6500, that's with solaredge, so with a standard inverter you should be able to shave a few hundred quid off that.
I'll ask one last time, stuck for space or more rooves?

We only have 1 roof available for panels. I'll check out solar edge to see if they can provide a quote too

Hiya. Do you know the size of the roof, and how many panels could be fitted?

If you've only got room for 10 or 12 panels, then we'll know what potential your roof has, and whether trying to go for 4kWp will require more expensive, high efficiency panels, pushing the price up.

As an example. 3.78kWp from 12 panels, would mean 315Wp panels. If those are LG 315's then they are high efficiency (19%) panels and cost approx 66p/Wp. Whereas the LG 285's are normal(ish) efficiency at 17% and cost approx 54p/Wp. 250Wp panels will probably cost around 50p/Wp. So price does depend on roof space as smaller rooves need to pay a bit more to squeeze more watts on - or settle for a smaller system.

If you're not sure, just ask friday's installer to give you an approximate measurement (length and height).

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
