windows 10

I have just updated to windows 10, make sure you have plenty of time to do it. It has taken over 5 hours to download and update. Thought at first it had lost all my favourites on IE but have managed to find them.

5 hours?! wow. i was moaning about it taken 90 mins. I think it probably depends on how many files you have on your computer

I signed up to receive the free download but haven't downloaded yet as I worry I will lose lot of my settings. Is it any good?

I don't think I lost anything, BlueBella. There is an option in the settings to revert back to 8.1 if you don't like it. But that only applies for a month after you download.
I created a system restore point before I downloaded it. I assume that will revert me back to 8.1

I downloaded - surprisingly fast, I went out and did the shopping and when I came back it was done, I fiddled, I tweaked,I read about the serious security issues http://www.wired.com/2015/08/windows-10-security-settings-need-know/ and went back to 8.1. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks - must admit, I often wonder if it is worth the hassle updating something if I am happy with how it is now. I think I will wait

Windows 10 is awesome.


Snap assist is really helpful for comping, especially on the magazine comps. I open the magazine website in a different internet explorer tab. I grab that tab and snap it to the right, Windows automatically makes it half screen. It also makes everything else that's open smaller as if to say 'ok, you snapped right - which item do you want on the left?' I click on the one with internet explorer and it snaps it left, really quickly. So entry form on the right, answers on the left really quickly. Nice feature.

Took less than an hour for me, with fast broadband and a solid state hard drive. That said, immediately after it I done a full format and reinstall and as always recommend others do also for best performance going forward.

Your system performance, broadband speed and upgrade selection (EG. Keep files...) will impact how long the process takes overall.

since my windows 10 update it will not tick the entered competition tick, has anyone else had this problem?

Krailton, has it logged you out of moneysavingexpert? I get that when I'm not logged in.

Just a warning for those with HP laptops that there is a known issue with certain models not shutting down/ coming out of sleep when upgraded
