I am after a 4kW system with black panels to go on my South facing roof. I have no shading nor size restrictions.

I have no idea what are good or bad names for the panels or the inverters and I would also rather not have somebody that will end up causing damage to my roof.

Has anyone used any companies in or around the area that they would recommend? Those that have had quotes in the area, how much were you getting quoted as I seem to be getting £6.5K quotes so far!

Thanks in advance
Phil

Hello Phil. Not what you asked, but you might be interested in a very recent thread from Cornwall, if only for a bit of background reading.

I had a brief look through that already thanks.

Many of you guys seem to be getting 5K quotes but those numbers don't seem to have filtered down this way yet from the quotes I am currently getting!!!

    Regards
    Phil

    Hi,
If it's of use we used a company near Okehampton, just off the A30 called Sundial, owner Derek - 01837558280.
Our install was in Nov 2011 so we had the high rate FIT but payed £11k back then for the system.
Worth a call as would recommend.
    Nobby.
    SMA 4000TL Inverter, 17 REC 235PE Panels, South facing, roof angle \ `ish, 3995 watt system.Installed Nov 2011.

    Hi,

We used Energy on the House. A company in Modbury

The owner is Mark Pickard 07895 007167

    They have a website http://energyonthehouse.co.uk/

They are really good and very helpful. My parents had a system installed by them and got such good service that we went with them as well.

    Well worth a look.

Hi Phil 24/7/365 :) my 4KW system has been up and running for 2 weeks now, 220KW generated to date....

I used "SOLARLEC", and am very pleased with all aspects of this company, their install team(s) are based in Exeter, so only an hour from you - at the speed of sunlight, that is ...
system was 6K5, which, I KNOW, people will say, is 2much... :(
but it included everything; scaffold, EPC. etc etc.
I will let you contact them for a quote, if you're interested to do so... I know you have already read my earlier thread on SW Cornwall
    (a.k.a. The WE*T Country) good luck !

Sundial have just got back to me with an approximate £5K (depending on fixing method and scaffolding costs) using SMA inverter and REC panels.

I can probably save a fortune if I get scaffolding off the people who already have some at my house. They would only need to add another lift to the top or the installers may be fine using a hop up all small tower for the last 2m.

I will contact Solaelec to see what they can offer as I'm not all about the price, though Sundial have taken the lead as they seem to be offering decent kit for the price.

What panels and inverter did they fit?

Hi Phil, black panels are smart ENHANCE XM with optimisers, and SOLAR EDGE inverter, as I have tree shade issues.
good quality stuff, I believe; 12 yr guarantee on inverter, 25 yrs on panels.

The company is pretty well established, based in Lancashire, and specialise in a wide field of green energy saving products. They should be around in the future, hopefully !
