applying for mortgage with nationwide while on maternity leave

Feeling very stressed. my maternity leave finishes on Sunday and i go back to work full time with same annual wage. during my maternity leave we found a house and applied for mortgage with nationwide through a mortgage broker. mortgage broker said the documents needed would be 3 months wage slips and bank statements as well as a letter from work with return date and 3 months of wage slips before i went on maternity. nationwide reviewed application and valuated the property. then nationwide asked for the letter from my employer be amended to have my address and annual salary. that was done and sent off last week. got a phone call this morning from my mortgage broker saying nationwide has asked for the letter to AGAIN be amended, this time the letter needs to be addressed to me instead of 'To whom it may concern' and must say 'will return to work earning £****' instead of saying 'currently earning £*****' They just seem to be messing us around. wish they would just tell us if its going to be YES or NO. we applied for this mortgage a month ago. has anybody else had the same problem?

A return to work letter is standard.

It has to confirm the return date, return salary and it has to be addressed to the applicant and not "to whom it may concern."

With a little experience, you explain to your client what is required and they can ask for it in the correct format/wording from their employer in advance of submitting the application.

This is probably not the lender's fault if this wasn't explained to you in advance.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I am currently going through the mortgage process with Nationwide.

I go back to fulltime work in September and Nationwide said they required a letter from my employer confirming this (at the moment I work four days a week).

I have the proper main mortgage appointment for 3hours(!) on Friday and the letter I have sent off to Nationwide is addressed to my local branch. At this point, they haven't said it's not enough, but now I'm anticipating problems!

We had this (albeit not with Nationwide). We supplied last 3 wage slips (whilst on mat leave) and employers letter stating current salary and pay and that this would not change along with a letter confirming back to work date.

They also submitted an employers reference to the employer as well. The letter submitted was addresses direct to the mortgage company and sent as a PDF to their email address.
