What is in your first aid kit?

As title.

I haven't checked over my first aid kits in a while, so due an update.

I have
- plasters
- rolls of bandage
- tape
- sterile water sachets (now out of date)
- scissors
- tweezers
- asprin 300mg
- prescription painkillers (my personal use, bad back (muscle spasms) - always scared it will go again.

We have two separate boxes with one containing first aid and the other medicines. In the first aid kit we have:

• Plasters
• Micropore
• Various sizes of dressings
• Different bandages
• Scissors
• Wipes
• Savlon
• Safety pins
• Tweezers
• Surgical gloves

Then in the medicine box we have:

• A variety of pain killers - liquid and tablets
• Antihistamine
• Cough medicine
• Vapour rub
• Strepsils
• Cough sweets
• Thermometer
• Dioralyte
• Imodium
• Heat pads
• Germoline
• Other family specific medication

Both are checked twice a year and out of date things replaced. Items that are used are replaced straight away. After flu and a stomach bug over the winter I always ensure I have the basics in the house so that I do not have to venture out unwell. Occasionally there has been waste however the benefits far out weigh any loss!

Tablets wise we have ibuprofen, paracetamol, cocodamol, cold/flu tablets of various kinds, indigestion tables (dunno why, nobody here suffers), imodium, chesty cough tablets

Other tablets we have are oregano, Q10, multi-vitamins, and chanca piedra.

In littl'un's cupboard we have paracetamol liquid, ibuprofen liquid, cough medicine, and colic drops.

My home first aid kit is a combination of the British Red Cross first aid kit for 1 person, the Health & Safety Executive first aid kit for 1 person and the St John Ambulance first aid kit for 1 person.

My car first aid kit is a combination of the British Red Cross first aid kit for motorists, the Health & Safety Executive first aid kit for 1 to 10 persons and both of the St John Ambulance first aid kits for motorists.

Some items are specified in all three, some in two, some in just one. Quantities are the maximum specified in any one.

I also keep the following:

paracetamol (adult tabs, desolve, liquid)
ibuprofen (tabs & liq)
cocodamol
tiger balm
chap stix
albus oil
nasal nostril stick thingy
nasal snore strips
deep heat
vicks rub
honey
lemon juice
whiskey
bongela (adults & kids)
tooth filling kit (always happens on a bank hol weekend lol really handy stuff!)
soothers
i find not much helps for coughs (sometimes vicks on kids feet) but if its dragging on i might buy buttercup
allergy tabs/liq
and prob other bits i cant remember.
i go through it prob twice a year and see whats needed.
There are 2 adults and 4 children (7,9,11,14) so like to keep well stocked up, as when 1 child gets poorly, the rest soon follow lol.
To be honest, the most that gets used in 1st aid kit is plasters and antiseptic cream/spray, a sling was used last yr when lil one broke his arm, i have a small 1st aid kit in car, and i carry a few bits in my rucksac which i take when we go out for day (plasters, tea tree oil, cotton wool, hand gel) as i like to be prepared for kids as there always climbing trees, and picking up bits and bobs etc.
general meds i stock up on this time of year as when school starts in sept, there seems to be something going around! lol hth
