Recruitment agency

Hi Guys,

I have this question and hope someone can help.

I as employee get positioned in a job and the employer pays between 10-20% to the recruitment agency , right ?

What happens if I leave within 1 month of staring the job ?
Does the company that employed me loses their10 to 20% paid or is there normally a condition to say the employee has to stay x month and pass probation before we pay you ?

Thanks

  • If you are talking about a permanent placement i.e. the agency advertised, shortlisted, the company interview and chose you. Now the company pays your wages directly to you, the agency isn't involved in paying your wages?

The company will have paid a fee that is a percentage of your first year's salary.

Standard terms and conditions would state that as long as the candidate starts work, then the fee is payable to the agency, but most agencies will offer a rebate structure if the candidate leaves within a certain period of time eg
    Leave within a week - 100% refund
    Leave within 4 weeks - 75 % refund
    Leave within 8 weeks - 50 % refund
    Leave within 12 weeks - 25% refund
    Leave after 12 weeks - 0 refund

Not all agencies work like this, and they may have special arrangements with certain clients, but in general if you leave after 1 month then the agency would probably have their fee reduced along a similar scale to the one above.
