Remortgaging in someone else name

Hi
This is my first post and I hope u all can help. My husband and I are desperate to remortgage as we are on an interest only mortgage. We approached our bank and they didn't offer enough to cover the loan. We think that if I did it on my own (credit rating 940) I could do it however
1. My name is not on the original mortgage although I paid the deposit
2. We owe 160k and the value is probably 185-190 (our area has not really enjoyed the increase everywhere else has)
3. We can't get a joint mortgage to cover it (see above)
What are the forums thoughts on it because I don't want to keep applying and get rejected, is my credit rating good enough (as I said I'm new to this but do commercial legal and accounting if anyone needs help with that) and is it even legal for me to remortgage as we weren't married then without paying legal fees or stamp duty?
Thanks for any help that can be given

What are the terms of the current mortgage.

You don't have to remortgage you could just save/overpay as if it was a repayment mortgage
can work out the numbers if you provide your mortgage details.
Amount owing
Interest rate with any conditions like fixed till xx thenY%
current payment
term/end date.0
