Oh my goodness! After an approximate 8 year uphill struggle my husband and I are finally debt free :j :j .
Our bankruptcy will fall off our files early next year and today I have paid off an amigo loan a year early which was our last remaining debt. Credit files are looking nice and green with the exception of the defaults which will drop off early 2016.
Have managed to get a phone contract and credit card (which gets paid off in full every month) for rebuilding good credit history with the hopes of getting a mortgage in a few years. Plan is now to hopefully save £500 per month for a house deposit.
It's been a pretty rubbish year so far as I gave up my job to help look after my dad Who we unfortunately lost not long ago, which has been very hard. Seeing my mum struggle with the debts he left has been a real eye opener and made me more determined to work my butt off and get everything paid so, I got a new job and have taken overtime whenever possible. I'm so glad that the hard work has paid off (literally
).
Good luck to everyone still debt busting. It feels like the end will never come, but it does and it feels great
