Hourly Rate

Hi all I have recently discovered that my employer is now paying my hourly rate to four decimal places. £13.9388. I feel this is not quite ethical and after speaking to a lovely person from HR they blamed it on the system. I would like to point out all other figures on my payslip are to two decimal places! I assume this is legal I hope not!

It's likely that you are paid an annual figure, rather than an hourly rate. They'll have divided that up to get an hourly rate, giving an odd figure.
There's no need to get excited about it - there will be a tiny bit of rounding up or down but it wont matter.0 -
Thanks for the reply. I am a weekly paid employee and up until new owners all hourly rates were rounded up to two decimal places.0

It may have just been that the figures were displayed to 2 decimal places, but the actual calculations were done to 4 decimal places.
There's a very simple way to check this, just multiply the number of hours worked by 13.9388. Then multiply the number of hours worked by 13.94 and see which figure matches what you were paid.0
