Each to their own, personally I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on those jobs for the sake of the data protection act.

How? What data is not being protected by speaking to somebody in a cafe? I see it all the time in the cafes around where I work. You walk in and it's very obvious that interviews are being conducted over a cup of coffee. I can't say it's something I would feel particularly comfortable with, but if that's the way the potential employer wants to do it you either have to go along with it or forfeit the job opportunity.

The Data protection act is essentially about personal data on IT systems. Nothing to do with this thread.

My vote is for coincidence. Think how many people this woman will see every day. I see clients everywhere - supermarkets, doctors surgeries, pubs. For most I struggle to remember a thing about them other than that I've met them.

    You are right.

People seem to love getting self righteous, spouting off nonsense about things they know absolutely nothing about!

Not so long ago I was in a pub having lunch on my own while the manager interviewed a candidate at the next table. I could hear everything and wanted to help her with some answers. I haven't seen the candidate working there so presume she was unsucessful and I'm not really surprised as she didn't say the right things at all.
