Ive been running Veg Oil in my Paejero for 8 months 53p a litre from Lidl, ive been using 70 oil 30 diesel. When i took it for an M.O.T.the guy said he has never seen such a good engine for a long time for the reg,the emmisions was zilch also.and sailed through the M.O.T. The only thing is the smell it smells like doughnuts and makes you very hungry, but what a lush smell. It saves you a lot on diesel especially when your on a long run the petrol gauge hardly moves. When i first tried it i used 70 diesel and 30 oil and gradually built it up.0

Hi,
I have not used any Diesel since July. I am using corn oil at 53P a liter in my L reg 1600 Turbo Passat, My injector pump had to be replaced but this was not anything to do with using corn oil, the Engineer who reconditioned my injector pump confirmed that the problem was not related to using the corn oil and he said that my engine was running without problems using pure corn oil. I antisipated starting problems in cold weather and although the first start in the morning is not so good, but once started it runs and starts fine all day.0 -

Good webiste. Interestingley all VW made cars (Skoda, SEAT, Audi) say you can use 100% biodeisel in cars built 1996-2004 if the fuel is made to a certain standard.
Also has a map of filling stations.0 -

Did they stop making these cars after 2004? Or does the site contain old information?0 -

Later cars have more emissions control gear, for example a system that occasionally or slowly drip-feeds another chemical into the fuel-tank for 20 or 50,000 miles. This works to occasionally burn off soot in the exhaust system and reduce particulate emissions overall.
But from things I've read, some of these appear not to be quite as compatible with biodiesel use, and may produce engine management error warnings when used with 100% biodiesel.
This might be why cars between certain dates are ok on 100% biodiesel while later ones are only recommended at 20 or 30%.
It's a bit difficult to find detailed information, particularly from the car manufacturers, though it's worth trying to speak to their technical people. It's also worth reading some biodiesel forums and keeping an eye on people's experiences with different makes.0 -
I'm afraid it's not just a case of pouring a bottle of Mazola in your fuel tank !!!! - Bio-diesels are oils treated with caustic soda and methanol etc, blended with ordinary diesel.
You must start using it very gradually - 5% to 10% to 15% over several months, with regular fuel filter changes in between (strangley the bio-diesel cleans the fuel lines and tank etc.0
