A wedding in Rhodes...

Hi all,

I'm a relatively new poster, so please be gentle :)

Myself and my fianc!e are getting married in Rhodes next August (2016).

I wanted to pick the brains of anyone who has done this kind of thing before:

We're looking for hotels and flights at the moment but nothing seems to be available apart from package deals with Thomson and Thomas Cook. Is this because flight details and accommodation rates haven't been released by the relevant providers? If our suspicions are proved correct then when does this kind of information usually get released?

I appreciate this might be less relevant to the special occasions thread, I just thought I might find someone else who had their wedding abroad.

I'm just a bit a worried that they may have either sold out already or we might miss the boat, so to speak.

Any advice you can give us on booking accommodation this far in advance would be helpful :)

Thank you!

not sure about advance pricing, but its going to be VERY hot, that time of year! - peak time for travel, so don't expect any cheap deals..

Are you doing a service in UK, for people who cannot make it abroad (work / costs?)

Yeah the ceremony is about 6pm so we're hoping it might have cooled down by then! :) Not expecting it to be cheap in fairness, just wondering why we can't find a lot of hotels for next year yet, is it because they haven't been released yet? Really not sure.

And yes, we're having a big party for all those who couldn't attend in the UK when we get back :)

Perhaps look at individual hotels instead of through a tour operator? Or at least pick someone who specialises in weddings in Greece. Most hotels (even the tiddly ones) have their own website and any which cater for weddings will definitely have one with information on.
