Payslips as proof

We submitted out mortgage application today to Halifax, of course we have to provide payslips, my husband are just online based so he's printed them off at home . How exactly do they use these, do they check them against your n.i. Number as there's nothing official looking about them since they are just printed on normal a4

Do they have the company logo on them? Are they addressed to your husband? Do they have contact information for the business?

If not, you may have to get confirmation of his salary from HR.

The first time I printed mine of they didn't have the BT logo on for some reason, I had to mess about saving the file in a different format then open as a PDF before it was displayed as it was online. Nationwide wouldn't accept the first one I printed off.

I was just thinking it would be easy for someone to forge them
  • The staff at Halifax look at hundreds of payslips a week. If they have any doubts over the legitimacy of what your husband has provided, they will simply go directly to his employer instead.

I was asked recently with Woolwich to just provide a copy of the bank statement to show the salary being paid in. They asked for this because we had printed off our statements online rather than having a traditional paper payslip.

Both me and my husband print our payslips and they have no logo or address or anything on them.
We had to give our bank statements as well and they compared.
My bank statement has a slightly different name from my company name where the money goes in so they've gone directly to my employer..
currently being a right palava but needless to say they will be accepted even if they need to be checked.

A half-competent graphic designer could forge (from scratch) any other payslip or document short of a passport or driving license using just a scanner and a couple of hours work... The fact you print it yourself from a PDF or website doesn't really make a huge amount of difference to how hard to forge it is.
