Santander Default

Hi guys,
I’m looking for some advice really; I was BR in May 2009 so everything has now been removed from my credit file. However 3 weeks ago, an account with Santander appeared on my credit file with a default date of October 2009. This obviously came off in May 2015 but then re appeared.
I complained to Santander and they have written to me to apologise for the inconvenience caused and said it will be removed. They have also admitted fault in the letter. They also included a cheque for £30!!
The thing that has annoyed me is that my credit rating has now taken a massive beating from 960 to 850 because of this default! I was looking to get a loan to buy a car last week however this is not now possible.
So do I accept the £30 or do I make more of a deal of this error?

Your credit rating is just something between you and the credit agency. Nobody but you will see it.
Any potential lender will see the entries on your file, it is up to them what they make of the things they see. If the default is gone, then there is nothing to worry about.0 -
Your 'credit rating' is irrelevant as only you see that.
Unless then incorrect default has cost you actual money or inconvenience, it's probably best just to cut and run.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
