Morrison's Pricing Policy

Was just wondering...
In Morrison's tonight and saw some beer on offer at £4 instead of £5. Later checks showed that the offer is still running.
At the checkout it came up at £5. When I told the supervisor the price was wrong, she suggested that I should complete my purchase, then go to Customer Services to claim a refund. Instead, I left the beer at the till.
I went back to the beer promotion to check my facts with a staff member working in the department, who confirmed the offer was correct and valid. But he could only suggest that I buy the beer, then seek a refund.
Finally I approached Customer Services and had an impromptu conversation with the lady there, and a passing Team Manager. They confirmed that the store policy was to "buy, then refund"
I pointed out that this approach could mean that not all customers would get the benefit of the promotion, and at the very least it could mean having to return to the store to claim a refund.
As far as I recall (and I shop at all the big supermarkets) the other stores have always managed to check and if necessary adjust a price while the purchase is still being made.
Is it OK for Morrison's to insist that people complete a purchase, then queue and go through the hassle of seeking a refund, when it was clear that the price was wrong at the time of purchase.
Thank you for listening

Happened time and time again at Morrisons, very rarely at others, came to conclusion that Morrisons are very relaxed about not applying offers at checkout and relying on customers' apathy/ignorance to boost profits. I very rarely go there now but study my receipt very carefully before leaving the store.
I once had an offer not applied at the checkout three weeks in a row, getting a refund at customer services each time, but why didn't they correct the mistake after the first time?0 -
Because it makes them money ?0

Morrisons do seem to have their own way of doing things, I dont
shop there often its not that far but the traffic between here and
there is always bad.
We forgot to use a discount voucher, something like £8 off a £40 shop. I mentioned it after paying, the checkout assistant called over the supervisor who then gave us a cash refund.
An odd way of doing it i thought. But it worked in my favour. I had a 10% cashback on my card so got an extra 80p cashback.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Sainsburys do that too. I purposely don't use the voucher, buy a gift card or two along with whatever I went there to buy, then go over to CS to get my money off which wouldn't normally apply to a gift card.0 -
This has happened to me a few times in Morrisons. I hardly ever go in there now, they are too expensive anyway.0

And their self service machines are the work of the devil!0
