Ran Malwarebytes and now my PC won't reboot

I have Windows 7 on my laptop. I ran Malwarebytes yesterday, which I have done before with no problems. I clicked OK to restart, it restarted, then I shut the PC down. When I turned it back on this morning, it got halfway through coming back on, but won't move on. The curser was a blue circle just going round and round for ages. Now, it's gone back to being an arrow but won't let me do anything. I can't understand it, because Makwarebytes has not caused any problems before.

I would be grateful for some advice, please. Many thanks!

Try to boot in Safe Mode and then try booting normally.

Hi, Double V; thank you for your reply. I was able to boot in Safe Mode but cannot get any further. The screen gives me three options, one of which is Safe Mode, so I click on that and end up with the basic screen and no internet access. I am unsure what to do next, and don't want to make the problem worse!

Thank you, Nutty Digits. I have looked at that link and I think it's exactly what I need, so I will do it now. I will report back. Many thanks for your reply.

I tried that, Nutty digits, and twice it said it was not successful and that it could not delete a particular file, but I still managed to get back onto my normal Windows. I will see what else I can find out about that file, and will also see what happens the next time I close down and restart my PC.

Many thanks for your help - it got me back to Windows, which was what I needed!
