ID required, Who is ....?

I've sorted all my post into piles & filed it. Very organised, I know, but thought i'd do it conjunction with my SOA. I've phoned them all up, paid token payments, explained the situation, promised to move forward etc...

But, one letter remains a mystery. Its from ECI Debt Collections, who quote their client as being Equidebt Limited. I have a rough idea that Equidebt's client is Capital One, but I don't have anything in writing from them confirming that they've sold the debt.

Can anyone confirm who it comes from? I'd hate to think I had a debt i didn't know about, coz its happened before & it could happen again. My ex partner took a visa card out in my name & has ramped up debts in my name, without me knowing about. Fighting through with solicitors etc..

Thanks

I think you need to write to them not acknowledging the debt and ask them for a copy of a signed credit agreement.

Someone else will come along and know the process and the letter to send better than me.

Is it normal practice for credit card companies to send credit agreement to debt collection agencies when they sell someone's debt? What if the debt collection company that bought the debt doesn't have the credit agreement?

Then they refer back to original company I am sure the debt is "unchasable" without proof of the agreement.

If I am wrong I stand corrected, its not an avenue I had to take but others have on here.

I'll keep that in mind - thanks.
